Special Exhibit
Thomas Contemporary Quilt Collection
This year's special exhibit is entitled "One Quilter's Passion - Quilts from
the Thomas Collection".
Quilter/collector Del Thomas has sought out quilts created by many of
the most well-known quilters of our day.
The quilts featured in our special exhibit are selected treasures
and are premier examples of contemporary quilting.
Some of the artists whose work will be shown are Ruth B. McDowell,
Elizabeth Barton, Charlotte Bird, Jane Sassaman, Jill Rumoshosky Werner, and Caryl Bryer Fallert.
Information and a sample quilt are shown below on three of the featured
quilters.

Del Thomas's intention is to display "Discombobulated" in a similar manner
as shown here.
Del has said about this piece:
As part of my presentations to groups I point out that
"Discombobulated" is made of cotton fabric, has a cotton batting,
is machine quilted and bound (with a hand stitched finished edge).
One can lay it on a bed, hang it on a wall, wrap it around a person
or pile it up on a table.
So, why would it not be a quilt?
Usually it creates a discussion about "what is a quilt?".
It helps to broaden peoples views, I think.
