Presentation: Transmissions: Quilts for Trans People by Cordy Joan (they/them), lead artist of the Transmissions Quilts Project.
Transmissions is a quilt-making and oral-histories project making gift quilts for individually nominated trans and genderqueer recipients. The project includes oral histories, interviews, community workshops, quilting bees and various other forms of gathering, including a traveling national show. The project is comprised of 150 trans artists spread over 22 states and 4 countries.
Block Party: The block for this month is Rail Fence. Feel free to make any variation, wonky or traditional. Much more info here.
Postcard Exchange: PLEASE NOTE: When registering for Quilters Gather, check “yes” to the postcard question ONLY if you want to make and send a fabric postcard in the two weeks following the program. Check “no” if you are not interested.
Show and Tell: Please share your current projects with us. Email photos to EBHQuilters.Gather@gmail.com at least one day before the next session. State the category: Block Party, Color Study, Postcard Exchange, Quilts. Include your full name, title of piece if any, dimensions of quilt or block, a brief story or information about the piece, and/or the postcard partner names. Please note: When you email your images to Quilters Gather you are automatically giving permission for EBHQ to display your work.
